Hello! My name is Billie-Jean and this school year will be my sixth year here at LCA. This is also my sixth year teaching third and fourth grades. Here is a bit of information about me. I graduated from Campbell University in 2010 with a Bachelor's (magna cum laude) in Elementary Education with a Minor in Social Studies. Shortly after, I moved to P.A. and married Andrew. He is a biologist and works for a mushroom company in Kennett. I worked for a short time as a lead teacher at The Goddard School, before starting here. I have a two year old son named Liam. My hobbies include reading, pinterest, and taking care of my family.
I absolutely love teaching. It is my passion and I get so much pleasure from spreading God's word to young minds. My mother has been a teacher for over twenty years, so I feel like I've grown up in the school system. I would go with her to her teacher workdays. I was making bulletin boards when I was ten years old, and helping her arrange her classroom by 14. I feel like teaching is in my blood and again, I love it.
Children are a passion of mine. How they learn, why they learn, their interests and desires are all apart of how God made them. I love to get to know each of God's precious creations every year. It is my goal to figure out the best way to educate each of these gifts, and to reach them in such a way that learning is fun for them. My teaching style includes games, interactive and kinesthetic learning, technology, "craftivities", music, and anything that makes them want to learn. I also believe in affective teaching. I truly believe that in order to teach a child concepts, everything else must be in place. They must feel safe, loved, and accepted.
